What do you guys think about "baby Leashes"?
I've seen from time to time a parent at a supermarket with a kid strapped to a baby leash. Ive always thought that they where cruel... I mean, leashes are for dogs. But now I have a little 16 month old that is almost impossible to control. I am happy that she is an active child and is having fun, but If we go places like the supermarket she does not want to sit in the cart and wants to be walking but when she does she is all over the place. She will take off running and will run even more if we chase after her, thinking we are playing. A friend of ours gave us a Teddy bear shaped backpack with a leash at the tail of it for my wife's baby shower and now I am seriously thinking of using it. Anybody else use them? whats your opinion of them? Any other ideas?

OK I have 2 different stories on this neither being mine personally. I was at a friends house for 4th of July and she had a family friend over whom i didn't know, her friend had a daughter a little younger than my 2 yr old at the time. The little girl was on a leash at a party, being a benefit of the doubt person i thought there was something wrong with her like autism or something along that nature, but then i go to find out there is nothing wrong with her at all she didn't want her to have her own freedom at the party because she said she goes "way to far with her freedom" my gosh she is a kid and all the other kids were running free and she wanted to also.
Then i was at the Zoo with the same friend, her sister had her son on a leash which i dont see anything wrong with it at all because we were in a public place and he wanted to run but she could still keep an eye on him without running off and getting lost.
So my opinion is its great in crowed places but if you are gonna use it at a party to "contain" your child cuz you dont want to keep on eye on her thats crazy!!
