Items You Need For Your Infant
The safety of your child will always be your number one priority, from the moment they are born to the moment you die. A parents life is full of constant worry and concern, but there are several ways that you can ease this by making sure that you are fully equipped with all of the correct safety items for your infant.
The first thing that you will need when you gather up your child from the hospital is an eddie bauer convertible car seat or some other alternative. You must never ride with your baby just sat in the passengers lap as this could well be fatal in the event of any accident. Get a good comfortable seat for those long journeys on holiday or visiting family.
At home you will need a functional crib for your baby. This should have narrow slats and a thin ans soft mattress with a cotton blanket. Do not fill the crib with toys or cushions for you baby. These will represent an over-heating hazard if they cover the baby and restrict the air flow around them. Toys are also dangerous as these can be broken and the separate parts choked on.
In your bathroom it is critical that you lock up all the cabinets so that your infant cannot get hold of some dangerous medication or chemical products as they get older. Also lock the toilets so your baby cannot climb in. Get some baby bath towels to dry your child after bath time rather than using your own ones.
Make sure also that the bathroom with fully baby proofed. You need to install child locks on any cabinets and toilets so that the infant cannot get their hands on something harmful as they grow older and more inquisitive. Instead of washing your child in the sink, get a baby bath that can be attached straight onto the main bath or else used elsewhere around the home.
Baby proof your entire home a they begin to get older. When they are newborn and very young they will be unable to do things for themselves, but as they grow they will become more mobile and therefore more able to hurt themselves as a result. Install locks all over the home for any cabinets that you don't want them investigating. This is especially important in the kitchen where there are dangerous chemicals and sharp objects.
Lastly, purchase a number of baby gates to be placed all over the house. Lock them in nice and tightly so they cannot fall on your child. Also make certain that you have installed them at both ends of any staircase and not just at the top.
